About
Sophia Mina is a singer, writer, and actress.
In 2016 she released her first single "Where's Love" via Soundcloud which reached over 84k plays in a month and peaked at number 10 in the music week chart. Her second single "Turn It Up" also peaked at number 10 in the music week chart.
A year later she released her EP "Fly" holding her launch party at "Tape" London. That very same year she completed both Amy's Yard and Capital Xtra's Music Potential Program.
Battling through anxiety and an extreme binge eating disorder, Sophia auditioned for a program called "Wax Lyrical" at The Roundhouse a poetry / spoken word course. There she gained a lot of emotional support and finally found her voice as a writer again. The course ended with three sold-out shows, where she got to perform her own work both written and sung.
She also became a youth ambassador for Tileyard Impact (Kings Cross) through their Songwriting program and a board member on Urban Partners.
In 2019 she joined The Roundhouse Youth Advisory board and became a mental health advocate and champion for creativity transforming lives. Her passion for empowering the next generation became part of her purpose, whilst staying creative and trying to cope with her own personal struggles.
That summer she released her fourth single "Ain't Got Time" holding her launch party at The Roundhouse, which had really become a second home to her. Through her charm and alluring stage presence hosting her own entire show, Sophia got scouted to co-host the Chairman's dinner in the main space.
Through all these amazing turns of events, Sophia has become a well-known face in the creative industry with tones of stories to tell and a lot to show for it.
Continuing her journey Sophia decided to move back into the acting/writing field. You can watch her most recent project: "Always Around", where she fronts the Roundhouse's fundraising campaign.
Covid-19 hasn't made things easy for us and during the lockdown, Sophia was diagnosed with "EUPD" and "PCOS", which makes life difficult for her to navigate. Just be sure that she is always cooking up something great, as her drive for creativity never ends.
